Fuel mass varies depending on pressure and temperature, but a good value for Jet-A1 is about 6.7 to 6.75 pounds per gallon, say 298 to 296 gallons per ton.

ought to that be a French Galleon or a Spanish Galleon? a common sixteenth Century Spanish galleon weighed about 500 tonnes, so a million ton of jet gas must be equivalent to at least a million/500 of a galleon. Now in case you had requested about gallons, which will be diverse. U.S. or Imperial?

In the USAF, we calculated 6.7 lbs/gal on JP-5, the same thing as Jet A. Using that figure and 2,000 lbs for a ton, my little calculator says 298.5.

I presume in the question, an imperial ton is used.

6.88 lbs/US gallon.

290.6 gallons.

250 gallons is a bit on the low side.
