Question:
BF3 jet strategy? how can i avoid flying in circles agains an enemy jet?

When flying in a jet in battlefield 3, air to air combat is unavoidable. Often times i find my self locked in a game of ring around the roasie. Its annoying and takes away from the intensity of air combat when i find myself flying in circles for most of the game.
How can i esure to be efective in air to air combat with out the need to spend most my time flying in cirles to avoid enemy fire? Im looking for evasive tactics i can use in place of the dreaded "circle game"

umm...

that's simply what happens with equally trained opponents and aircraft. then.. the one who breaks away, he shows his exhaust to the seekers of his opponent.

you probably need to maneuver in vertical rather than in horizon.

I guess you'd have to consult the game programmers and find the exact algorithm for ring around the rosie jets. Jets with artificial intelligence are different than jets with human pilots in them.

Do you have a wingman? Use him to break cover while you maneuver into position for a lock. I guess that's what I'd do. Hope you read up on evasive vertical maneuvers against IR and radar missiles.

I've never played Battlefield or any other of those ridiculous games that are supposed to make a person an expert on military tactics. If you like flying video games and really want something worth the time and money, get something like Falcon 4.0 or DCS A-10c Warthog. Those are study sims and besides having to learn the flight characteristics of the aircraft, you have to learn 600 pages of armament systems, weapon profiles, targeting, and delivering the weapon as it would be done in the real world. There are a few things not modeled accurately of course, like placing an enemy camp at the bottom of a hole with only MANPADs as a defense, but you can create your own missions that are much more accurate to an actual threat scenario. Forget BF3. That's for kids.

The same way you figure out how to ask questions in the correct category. This particular one is for AIRCRAFT, real aircraft. Try games, or Google for a BF3 user's forum.
