The An-225 Myria beats them all:

Length: 84 m (276 ft)

Wingspan: 88.74 m (291 ft 2 in)

Height: 18.1 m (59.3 ft)

Wing area: 905.0 m² (9,741 ft²)

Empty weight: 175,000 kg (385,800 lb)

Maximum gross takeoff weight: 600,000 kg (1,320,000 lb)

Only one was ever built (to ferry the Russian Buran Space Shuttle). It is currently is service with Antonov Airlines/ http://www.airfoyle.co.uk/

The new Airbus A380F Max Takeoff Weight is 19,300lb less than the An-224. It's wingspan is also 8.94m less than the Myria.

Av8trx is closest. An225 is the largest in-service today. The Spruce Goose had a wider wingspan but a) was shorter, b) carried less gross weight and c) never really operated in a real-world environment.

And the person who answered A380 is also wrong: the An225 has a wider wingspan than the new Airbus aircraft. (The A380 sure is big, though; I took some cool video of it at the Paris air show last summer.)

The Russian An125 Ruslan is the world's largest aircraft beating the C5 Galaxy. The An124 has a loaded take-off weight of 405 000kg, wing span of 73.30m, lenght of 69.10m and a height of 20.78m.

I believe the largest aircraft in the world is the Russian Cargo aircraft cald the Condor. It is longer and wider than the US made C-5 Cargo aircraft and has 8 engines mounted under its wings for power.

I think that distinction lies to the Spruce Goose implanted in my state of Oregon at the Evergreen Museum in McMinnville OR.

A must see and a jaw dropper, the Goose dwarfs the SR 71 sitting next to it.
