I am a licensed aircraft mechanic (A&P.) Before I retired, I worked for several different airline companies during my career, as well as running my own General Aviation repair shop. I have worked on everything from 1920's vintage antiques to brand new passenger jets.

I was a jet engine mechanic for 4 years (1966-1970) with the US Air Force. I worked on a ton of airplanes: F-100, F-4, C-135, C123, B-47, B-52, B-57 C-130, C-119, and there may be more, but I can't remember any others right now.

Then from 1995-2001 I was an equipment specialist on A-10 and F-111. I maintained technical data on the weapons systems for both aircraft.

aircraft mechanics are those people who maintains the aircraft airworthy (safe for flight),there are two branches one is related to Airframe and Engines, and the other one is Avionics which includes electrical and instrument systems.its aircraft mechanic's job to keep the aircraft safe for flight and to certify the same before flights. where ever you find an aircraft there must be aircraft mechanic/aircraft technician, to keep it safe.every airplane needs to be in airworthy condition to fly safely, so you will find them with every aircraft(airplane).
