There are those who specialize as BUYERS agents for the task, paying one makes a lot of sense because they know the business, know the market, know what is and isn't a bad deal and know what all the various hours mean!
With any jet you have airframe time, engine time, time since overhaul, time since hot section, time since main gear overhauls, total "cycles", take off and landing "cycles" and lots of other items that all make a difference to value!
Be smart, hire someone who knows. You will save in the long run.

It really doesnt make that much of a difference, because, no matter how old or new the jet is, it still has to go through the same 100hr safety checks.
Things that are broken get replaced
Things that are old are normally updated
If you have the exact same plane twice 'cept 1 is used and a few thousand cheaper, then buy the used one even if it has thousands of hours because it will be at the same standard as a brand new one.

Be specific, in your logbook or on the airframe and/or engines.
