If I graduate better and more famous college than other applicants, do I have more change of getting hired or being interviewed? (ignore flying hours)

If you interview better than you spell check, then just maybe you could get a job.

Whoever answers yes is wrong and is not knowledgeable with the aviation industry.
Your question is invalid as ignoring flying hours would only be done in a dream world. In true reality, airlines will always take logged flying hours and experience into account over academic achievements.
Speaking from Britain --- I was competing against somebody who had O levels and a Masters degree whereas I, on the other hand, had 12/13 GCSEs and a previous full career in the RAF.
It will be, on a rare occasion, where a candidate is selected primarily on their academic skill. For that reason alone, I wouldn't commit myself to an academically fantastic college if you are able to achieve your potential in any other college because when you are interviewed, the representatives for the carrier will be far more interested in your flying hours, experience and some aspects of your personality (though mainly experience).

not necessarily. employers usually look at your qualifications in addition to your education. just because you went to a great school doesn't mean you'd be great for the position you're applying for.

well, it makes your resume look much better, and your education is a major resource to seeing if you're a good worker. so yes. you do have a better chance.

I know quite a few commercial pilots who never even finished college - I think apptitude and actual flight training/hours accrued are more important.

No. Showing "Embry-Riddle" anywhere on a resume might be a disadvantage.
"John Hopkins" isn't the name of a university.

Such a great question! Unfortunately though, going to a great college is not a substitute for how you come across in an interview, what your other experience is, and other job related activities you may have had. Sure, a great college degree will help you get your foot in the door, but that doesn't mean you don't need to work hard to get hired.

Do you mean if you have a better GPA from a more prestigious college? If that is the question, then yes I would say you have a better chance of getting an interview. Being hired is based on how your interview goes.
Your English skills above will get you excluded from being interviewed though. Even if you were in a hurry, you need to take the time to present a good impression.

Sure. But most colleges have about the same prestige unless its an Ivy League school.
Otherwise prominent state schools are usually only recognized as having more value in that state. There are a few exceptions.
For example, I think everyone knows schools like Duke and Notre Dame.

for some positions, like lawyer (yale, harvard), engineer (MIT, Cal Tech, UAF), doctor (John Hopkins, Duke, UM) or the like, then yes, however in a position like aviation, your hours will be more valuable than your education. go to a place where you are going to fly, fly, fly. then fly every chance you get beyond that.
actually the #1 thing you should check is the # of flying hours you'll have on graduation and the license qualifications you'll have when you're done.

hahaha. in this economy?? NO. if someone has more experience and they went to like...a state university and you went to an Ivy league...good luck. I went to a great school and was told so many times i did not have enough EXPERIENCE to get accepted. I had 3 great internships and dean's list grades. however, if you went to say, a junior college..like a 2 year one and didn't try for a 4 year university...then a person who went to a 4 year university has probably a better chance..but it really is all based on experience and WHO YOU KNOW now.
Don't bank on it.

Yes, but the only thing that matters what school you feel most comfortable attending. The richer people people will always have better schools than the middle class, relax enjoy life don't let it bother you.

yes you will have a better chance of getting hired lets say if you went to a good school..but depending on what ur schooll is known for..
i go to stonybrook university..it is well know for its integrity in science and research...so if your applying for a job in health..it looks good and you should be a prefered then the other..

Embry Riddle on a resume is dynamite +, costly but worth it.

Yes, because possible employers know you have a better education, can take on more work, and potentially more qualified.
