There's a FMS at the Bombardier plant near my place, you can simulate flying the CRJ-200 or -700, or the new CRJ900. The Learjet , and the Dash series. Normally closed to the public, but during special events, you can have a go for around 100$ for half an hour.

Prior to and just after 911, I was selling and hosting full-motion sim time for $400-$600 per hour. (Full motion, DC9, DC10, 727, 757, 747, A320.)
Bummer for me that that business had to go away.
Generally speaking just buying an hour of time is a severe nusiance for a company that has these simulators which is likely why quoted rates are so high.

I believe that the Level D (full motion, full visual, complete replication of flight deck, etc.) sim I trained in 2 years ago for my last type rating ran about $1,000 per hour, or more. (We were not charged by the hour.) The type rating itself retailed around $35k ($27k-30k if discounted) and most of that was attributable to the cost of sim training. Was in a "super mid size full glass business jet". I actually doubt the above-poster's mention of $3k for "DC-9/737". Those type ratings are much cheaper than the figures I gave above and so are not reflective of such a high hourly rate, those sims are old, with old avionics and flight instrumentation platforms. Those older sims probably cost more to maintain than to actually operate.

When we went to Flight Saftey in TOL, the Citation X level D sim was 600.00+ a hr for just the flight deck and screens, 1800.00+ an hr for full motion, which they didnt turn on.
We went with a group of students in the flight progam, as one of the the people knew the director very well and set us up with intro to flight saftey as a promotion for their new high altitude and jet familazation program.

Depends on the type aircraft simulated. DC-9/737 size runs about 3K an hour. Citations are cheaper and the harder to find type, say Lockheed JetStar are about 10K an hour.

If you download Google Earth, there's a free version. The free version has a flight simulator, and if you have one, you can hook up a joystick and make the simulator seem more real.
