Who keeps my FAA written test report?

I took my FAA PPL written test and passed my checkride. My examiner collected my written test report and presumably turned it into the FAA although I am not sure what exactly he did with it. Now I am in college and my roommate, who also has his PPL, has his original written test report with the raised seal. He said that since the report is "an official document, it should be on your person at all times". I called my instructor and was told that the examiner is to collect the document. So was my instructor and examiner wrong and I am **** outta luck since I dont have my original score report? or is my roommate the one who is doing something wrong by still having his?

The Airman Knowledge Test Report must be presented to the examiner

prior to taking the practical test. During the oral portion of the practical test, the examiner is required to evaluate the noted areas of deficiency.



It depends on the way the practical test paper work were done.



If the form for the application of practical test/sign off from your instructor was given by filling IACRA, the original test report stays with you as the examiner does not need to send it to the FAA for the issue of your pilot certificate.



But, in case the form filled is hand written/form 8710 then under my knowledge they have to submit your original test report for written knowledge & the original pilot certificate of the previous level in case it is for the issue of Commercial Pilot license/Instrument Rating/Multi-Engine Add-on rating.



Even i had the same experience with my checkride, when the examiner kept my written score card & the original PPL for the issue of Instrument rating & that was absolutely normal under the procedures they usually follow under from 8710.

Cupid has it correct. If the test is conducted under IACRA, then there is no requirement for the DPE to collect the test, and most won't. If on paper, then Oak City will reject the application unless the original written, with raised seal, is included.



The same is true of your superceded certificate. If IACRA, the DPE will punch a hole through the FAA Seal and return it to you, if paper, then it must be included in the cert file.

I haven't kept any of my written test results for any certificates that I have. The fact that you hold the license is evidence that you've passed the test.



There's no requirement that you keep your written results after you pass your checkride. Try to find it in the FARs. You won't.

Don't have a single one for all my ratings, and there is no requirement for you to "carry it on your person at all times". You sure your roomie has a license?
